For people struggling with addiction, the pandemic brings unique challenges. For anyone in recovery, the profound reduction in social interaction can lead to serious emotional changes that threaten stability and sobriety. This presentation will discuss some things people in early recovery can do to assist in their recovery efforts during a time when pandemic safety measures can present as a barrier to their efforts.
About the Presenter: Donna Rininger, LMHC, MCAP, Peace River Center’s Director of Specialty Services
Donna is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Master’s Certified Addiction Professional and has worked at Peace River Center for over 29 years in several different departments including Victim Services, Case Management, Children’s Advocacy Center, Children’s Therapist, Assertive Community Treatment, Addiction Services, Family Intensive Treatment, Forensics, and the Children’s Action Team. Donna currently holds the position of Director of Specialty Services at Peace River Center. Donna is trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, an evidence-based form of treatment for complicated trauma, and has been using this effective therapy technique since the mid-’90s, witnessing amazing positive results with many clients from small children to senior citizens.
