Kathleen Roehm Memorial Fund

SUMMER UPDATE

Group home client and staff member posing by new cabinets made possible thanks to the Kathleen Roehm Memorial Fund.

Having experienced first-hand the positive impact Peace River Center’s wraparound mental health services can have on a loved one, Kathleen Roehm was passionate about the organization. She was a treasured member of our Community Relations team until her sudden passing in September 2021.

Thanks to generous donors, we continue to honor Kathleen’s incredible legacy through the Kathleen Roehm Memorial Fund. With the donations received, we have installed new cabinets at our Group Home. Group Home provides up to 15 Peace River Center clients with 24/7 staff supervision and assistance. Clients in the program receive training, counseling, medication supervision and education, crisis intervention, interaction therapy, and socialization skills training.

Group Home grill and pictures of clients eating from cookout

Thanks to donors’ support of the Kathleen Roehm Memorial Fund, we also improved quality of life at Group Home by purchasing a grill for cookouts. We have celebrated a couple of holidays with the residents there by catering their holiday meal and making the holidays brighter with gift cards from Walmart. Oftentimes our Group Home residents have extremely limited budgets for personal hygiene items, so the holiday gift cards were much appreciated.

SRT Therapeutic Tools and GamesWe were also able to purchase therapeutic tools and games for our Short-term Residential Treatment (SRT) clients. SRT provides high-risk patients with a safe, therapeutic environment for an extended length of time. At SRT clients receive more intensive treatment and develop a more comprehensive discharge plan to enhance the likelihood of success in a community-based setting.

Finally, we are eagerly anticipating the installation of benches at our Peace River Center apartments. These will provide our apartment residents as well as visitors to our Gilmore health campus, a place to soak in some sunshine.

If you’d like to help fund projects and activities that improve the quality of life for clients in our Recovery Services programs, consider making a donation to the Kathleen Roehm Memorial Fund today.
