About the Virtual Marathon

Launched in 2020, the Recovery is a Marathon, Not a Sprint virtual run offers individuals an opportunity to show their support for mental illness, boost their mental health by getting active, and share their stories.

Participants track their miles and share updates to the Facebook group or on their Instagram stories throughout the month of September. Be sure to use hashtags #RecoveryRun and #PRC4Recovery. The goal is to run or walk 26.2 miles by the end of the month. Whether you complete your miles in one day or little by little, your support and help to make others aware of Recovery Month is what matters most!

What are Recovery Services?

We define recovery services as services available to individuals who have a severe and persistent mental illness. Peace River Center offers a variety of recovery programs that help individuals learn more about their mental illness, which is a treatable medical condition. These programs teach psychoeducation, coping tools, life skills, employment skills, and more. Discover more by visiting our Recovery Programs page.

What is Club Success?

Club Success is an international program certified by Clubhouse International, which includes more than 330 Clubhouses in 30 countries throughout the world. Our clubhouse is a place of belonging for persons living with mental illness. They can build self-confidence and self-esteem while reintegrating into their community, becoming more independent and productive, and learning to live happy, healthy lives.

In this program persons living with mental illness are called members rather than clients or patients because it helps foster relationships and recognizes the joint partnership that allows members to work on their recovery by completing education, employment, and housing goals. Club Success provides transitional employment with local community partners such as Cob & Pen and Good Thyme.
