Why Give?

Approximately 74 percent of the 27,900 plus individuals Peace River Center serves every year rely on your generous donations and support. That’s because those clients are at 200% or more below the poverty level. Thanks to our generous donors and sponsors, we provide $730,000 of unfunded emergency psychiatric care annually. Your support matters. Your generosity helps ensure some of our community’s most vulnerable children and individuals have access to important mental health services, mental illness recovery programs, and victim services programs.

Who Your Support Helps

Your support helps clients like Jastin. Watch her testimonial.

Oftentimes when clients share their stories, we hear about places of darkness and isolation; they feel like no one understands them. Once connected to Peace River Center’s compassionate staff and empowering programs, their lives begin to improve. They share their recovery journeys with others and gain strengths, skills, and most importantly, hope along the way. With your generous support, we can make more stories of hope possible.

Planned Giving

Did you know there are creative ways to support Peace River Center? Ways in which Peace River Center, you and your loved ones all benefit at the same time? This technique is known as “Planned Giving”. Planned giving options provide the opportunity for everyone to benefit and create a lasting legacy. These options include:

Annual Fund

Gifts to the Annual Fund are traditionally utilized to help enhance the mission at Peace River Center. These contributions make a tremendous impact on all Peace River programs.

Charitable Bequests

  • A charitable bequest is simply a distribution from your estate to a charitable organization through your will or trust. There are different kinds of bequests. Bequests can be:
  • Cash bequest – Peace River Center receives a specific dollar amount from your estate.
  • Bequest of Property – Peace River Center receives specific assets, such as securities, real estate, or tangible personal property (for example, works of art or antiques).
  • Residuary Bequest – Peace River Center receives all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate after the payment of any specific bequests and expenses.

Gifts of Retirement Assets

  • You can leverage your retirement assets to benefit you and your family, reduce federal taxes, far into the future by designating Peace River Center as whole or partial beneficiary of your retirement plans (401K, IRA, etc.), life insurance policies, checking and savings accounts, etc.
  • Individual donors age 70 ½ or older with an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) can make a gift to Peace River Center and exclude it from the taxable income, and the gift qualifies as the required minimum distribution (RMD).

Other Ways to Give

Peace River Center Thrift Shoppe: Donate, Shop, Repeat

The Peace River Center Thrift Shoppe began from a need to provide clothing and household essentials for domestic violence survivors. Now the program not only generates funds to cover Peace River Center services that are provided at no cost such as our domestic violence shelters, it also allows survivors and qualified mental health clients to shop with dignity through our Thrift Shoppe voucher program. Learn more about how you can give back by donating and shopping.

Whether you have a passion for working with sexual assault and domestic violence survivors or want to assist with fundraising events and community outreach efforts, we look forward to discussing opportunities with you.
