Behavioral Health Navigator
Helping Individuals Access Local Resources
Recently Peace River Center launched a new program, Behavioral Health Navigation, designed to improve public access to, and knowledge of, mental health and substance use disorder treatment services that are available in Polk County.
“Behavioral Health Navigation serves as the starting point for individuals who are unsure of where to receive mental health or substance use resources,” said Larry Williams, Peace River Center (PRC) CEO.
Individuals who are working with PRC navigators will receive education about available services, information and referrals to care, assistance with applying for benefits and supports, and direct assistance with completing system-based requirements for the appropriate level of care. These services are provided at zero cost to the individual.
“Anyone who have navigated healthcare systems know how challenging and overwhelming they can be. This program brings expertise so that individuals can receive the care they want and deserve,” said Williams.
The program focuses on citizens of Polk County who have behavioral health needs but who struggle navigating the care system independently. There is no age requirement to receive services.
Behavioral Health Navigators are available to help both community members seeking care as well as local agencies seeking services for their clients. Anyone from medical offices and housing complexes to community programs can reach out for education and support in linking those in need with available resources.
