Domestic Violence Program Award
Recently Tronda Burton, Peace River Center Victim Services Shelter Manager received Heartland for Children’s “Family Preservation” award. The acknowledgment was for her role in helping Department of Children and Families (DCF) house a family into safety. The Survivor had six children and surrounding shelters had no space to assist the entire family.
“I really believe the award should have went to Peace River Center Victim Services’ Lead Advocate Andrea Fennell. She played a major part in this success story,” said Tronda.
After being informed of the situation and being notified the siblings would have to be split up into foster care if there was no space, Andrea made arrangements in Peace River Center Victim Services shelter to take in the family so they could be safe and together.
“We were so pleased to help break down barriers and get this family some help, it spotlighted our assistance,” said Tronda. To learn more about Peace River Center Victim Services and how the organization helps domestic violence survivors visit our page or follow us on Facebook or Instagram.
